There are more than 35 mountains in the heart of Greece’s mainland, also referred to as Roumelis’ Mountains. The common traits of these mountains are their extensive spread and “dolomitic” nature. Here are the Roumelian Mountains that comprise some of the most popular skiing and climbing destinations of our country: Mount Parnassus (2,457m), the mountain of light, mythology and ancient mysticism, where Delphi, the most significant religious and cultural center of Greek antiquity, is located. Vardousia Mountains (2,495m), of multifarious and complex summits, full of terrain transitions and visual surprises that will fascinate even the most experienced mountaineers. Christened also as the southern Greece Alps. And finally, Kaliakouda (2,101m), the imposing “tooth” of the Evrytania region, with picturesque canyons, dense spruce forests, and steep peaks comprising an enchanting terrain almanac.
